PRESS RELEASEPlease find below a link to our Press Release summarising our submission to the current House of Commons DWP Select Committee inquiry into the effectiveness of the Child Maintenance Service approach to child support.
Our response draws on our casework and on the online consultation which over 800 of you responded to! This is by far our biggest ever response. Thank you so much - your replies have enabled us to put together a very clear critique of the CSA and CMS operation and of their principles too.
Our overall message is that the current tunnel-vision of the CMS rules impoverishes children and their parents, damages relationships and provides perverse incentives for one parent to reduce the time children have with the other, as well as diminishing the other parent - usually the father - in the perception of their children.
The Parliamentary Select Committee meets next month to consider our and a number of other submissions. FNF's full submission can be examined here. Details of the Inquiry and all the submissions can be found here.
Some of you may feel that this worth taking to your local MP (let us know) and ensuring that they are aware of our findings and of your case too where appropriate. Similarly, if you feel your own experience of the CMS/CSA is one which you would be prepared to share in a media (Radio/TV/Press/etc) interview - just drop us an email with no more than 500 words on your story and we will pass on your details in reply to relevant media enquiries.
