This is a general help page provided to help you with a number of common difficulties our users have reported.
Joining FNF
How do I join?
To join FNF please click here. Membership costs £39 for the first year and £35 thereafter, with a reduced rate of £18 available to those on unemployment benefits. Alternatively, you can register for our mailing list by selecting ‘Free Registration’. Free Registration does not give you access to Member benefits, such as the Forum.
Can I join/pay on someone else's behalf?
We are aware that some people purchase Membership on behalf of friends or relatives. This may be to help out with the cost or because the person is in need of the support and advice which FNF provides. If you would like to do this, you can. Just make sure that you enter the person's contact details correctly, including their email address, so that they receive FNF Mail and can also access the Forum and Members-only pages on our site. The contact/address details you enter while registering do not have to match those entered on the Payment page.
I tried to join but my email address is already in use
If you tried to join but couldn’t because your email address is already in use, this means we already have your email address in our records, probably because you have previously registered. If you know the password you can login using that, if not you can retrieve the password by clicking Forgot Login and entering your email. We will then send you a temporary password to access your account. After you login with this password you must change it, otherwise you may have problems logging in again.
How do I upgrade to become a Member?
To upgrade to full Membership, click Upgrade My Subscription and select 'Annual Membership' or 'Monthly Membership'. This will give you access to the Forum, to FNF-produced Factsheets and more.
What are my payment options?
We accept payment by Paypal, credit/debit card, cheque or cash.
If you would like to pay by cheque or cash, select 'Pay Offline' when you get to the Payment screen. You will then need to send the payment to the FNF Admin Office at:
Families Need Fathers
Unit 501
The Pill Box Building
115 Coventry Road
London
E2 6GG
Please make sure you send this within 2 weeks of becoming a Member.
If none of these payment options are suitable for you, contact us at admin@fnf.org.uk and we'll try to sort out an alternative for you.
Note: You will also find these instructions on the Payment page.
My Profile
I forgot my password
If you have forgotten your password, click here, select 'Lost Password' and enter your username and email address. We will then send you a temporary password to access your account. After you login with this password you must change it, otherwise you may have problems logging in again.
How do I change my contact information?
You can change your address and contact details by accessing your profile on the website. Login to your account and then go to "Account" and then select "edit". Alternatively once logged in, click here.
How do I change my username?
Sometimes our Members have usernames which may identify them, for example their username may be very similar to their name. This may be problematic when talking about individual cases on the Forum. If you think your username is too revealing, contact web_admin@fnf.org.uk and we will change it for you.
How do I change my password?
To change your password, go to Edit My Profile and type a new password in both the ‘Password’ field and the ‘Verify Password’ field. Please do NOT edit your password through the forum, edit it on the FNF website instead.
My username isn’t working
If you have been a Member since before August 2014, your details would have been transferred to our new system. Unfortunately this resulted in some Members not having the same username as before. Please try logging in using you email address instead. If this does not work then click on Forgot Login and enter your email. We will then send you a temporary password to access your account. After you login with this password you must change it, otherwise you may have problems logging in again.
My password isn’t working
One reason why your password may not be working is that you have changed your password on the Forum. This can lead to problems so we recommend that in future you only change your password on the FNF website, using the Edit My Profile page.
If you would like to reset your password please go to Forgot Login and enter your email. We will then send you a temporary password to access your account. After you login with this password you must change it, otherwise you may have problems logging in again.
The Forum
How do I access the Forum?
Please note you must be a full member of FNF to access the Forum.
Please login to the FNF website. After you have done this, click the Forum link in the main menu at the top of the page.
I cannot access the Forum
The Forum is only available to FNF Members. If you are not a Member or your Membership has expired, you will not be able to access the Forum. Please either join or renew to gain access.
If you have an active Membership and still cannot access the Forum, it may be because you are using a temporary password. This would have been sent to you if you had clicked on Forgot Login. To fix this, all you need to do is go to Edit My Profile and type a new password in both the ‘Password’ field and the ‘Verify Password’ field.
If you have followed the above instructions and still cannot access the Forum, contact us at admin@fnf.org.uk.
If your issues are not covered above, please contact us at admin@fnf.org.uk.
