Children’s Commissioner for England speaks at Families Need Fathers Annual General Meeting
- Sir Albert Aynsley-Green will speak at the FNF AGM this Sunday
- Children’s Commissioner’s presence at FNF AGM confirms the importance of shared parenting
- FNF AGM to be held Sunday 18th March at 12pm
Professor Sir Albert Aynsley-Green, the Children’s Commissioner for England, will be the guest speaker at Families Need Fathers’ AGM, at the Conway Hall, Red Lion Square this Sunday 18th March. Appointed in 2005, he acts as an independent voice for children and young people, championing their interests and bringing their views and concerns to the national arena.
Sir Al has an extensive background in Child Health at the Department of Health, Great Ormond Street Hospital, and University College London. Having trained at Guy’s Hospital Medical School, he has a keen research interest in the history of children and childhood and their standing in contemporary society. His presence at the FNF AGM is a key indicator of the importance of children maintaining a relationship with both parents following separation, something which the charity has championed since 1974.
The Commissioner will speak about the roles of both parents in bringing up their children as well as the scope of work dealt with by the Children’s Commission.
Jon Davies, CEO, said, “We are delighted to welcome Sir Albert to our conference. At last our politicians are beginning to realize the value of fathers. They can’t get away with the old clichés of feckless uncaring men who don’t want to see or be involved in the children’s lives. Families Need Fathers and Sir Al will be helping to prove this.”
The AGM will take place on Sunday 18th March between 12pm and 4pm at the Conway Hall, 25 Red Lion Square, London and will be attended by FNF members and the charity’s National Council.
